WiDS VILLACH 2023: DATA SCIENCE COMMUNITY GATHERS IN CARINTHIA
For the fourth time, at the end of May, a Women in Data Science conference took place at the tpv Technologiepark Villach. During the event, experts presented current developments and important advancements in the field of data science
WiDS (Women in Data Science) is a global initiative originally launched in 2015 by Dr. Margot Gerritsen and Karen Matthys as a conference at Stanford University. The initiative primarily advocates for equality and diversity in the field of data science, thus contributing to strengthening the role of women in the discipline. Its goal is to connect and inspire data scientists worldwide, thereby advancing the future of the field.
Since its inception, the original event has evolved into a globally distributed conference network. Approximately 200 regional events are organized annually in over 50 countries, reaching over 100,000 participants. These conferences provide a unique opportunity to exchange innovative ideas and stay informed about the latest developments and applications in data science. Since 2020, Villach has also been hosting a satellite conference.
