On September 11th, in the tpv Technology Park Villach, the groundbreaking ceremony took place for another education and training campus. The city of Villach provided the land for this project that is being implemented by the Non-Profit Personnel Service GPS.

An important educational project commenced on Monday, September 11th, 2023, with a groundbreaking ceremony for another education and training campus in the tpv Technology Park Villach. This investment was made possible primarily by the city of Villach, who provided the land in the tpv Technology Park Villach.

On a usable area of approximately 2,850 square meters, the Gemeinnützige Personalservice Kärnten GmbH (GPS) will create state-of-the-art workshops, laboratory spaces, storage rooms, classrooms, social areas, and office facilities.

Villach's Mayor Günther Albel stated, "It is a pleasure for us to support this new GPS apprenticeship training project as a city in the tpv Technology Park. The internationally recognizable high-tech growth of our city has always rested on three pillars: education and training, economy, and research and development." The noticeable shortage of skilled workers can only be reduced with high-quality training facilities.

This project is the best example of how efficiently the private sector and the public sector cooperate, once again, in Villach.

In addition to bfi and Wifi, Infineon Austria will relocate its apprenticeship training from St. Andrä im Lavanttal to Villach starting in the fall of 2024. The Technische Akademie (Technical Academy) St. Andrä (TAK) will continue to be the trusted training partner for this project. This creates a forward-looking collaboration between the two largest inter-company apprenticeship trainers in Carinthia, GPS and TAK, with Infineon Austria, the largest private employer in Carinthia.

This modern campus is expected to be completed by the fall of 2024, with costs totaling around 9 million euros. The project is being carried out by GPS on behalf of the owners AMS Carinthia and the employer and employee organizations. This building will expand the existing training areas of GPS in the tpv Technology Park. Infineon will occupy approximately 1,500 square meters as the main tenant, while bfi and Wifi will share about 1,100 square meters.

The focus of bfi and Wifi will be digital training for apprentices in the IT sector and digital integration in the gastronomy field. At Infineon, starting in the fall, approximately 40 apprentices will begin each year, doubling the previous annual intake of apprentices. Over the next ten years, around 350 new employees will be trained for Infineon's manufacturing. Infineon will offer the dual apprenticeship program "Electrical and Metal Technology" with and without a high school diploma.
