NETWORKING IN THE GREEN: 4TH BUSINESS BREAKFAST AT THE TECHNOLOGY PARK VILLACH

An outdoor premiere for the Business Breakfast at the Technology Park Villach: The popular networking format hosted its first-ever breakfast and exchange in a green setting.
On August 11, 2026, the new picnic area opposite the river stands at the Technology Park provided the perfect setting for the first outdoor edition of the Business Breakfast. Numerous representatives from resident companies, the City of Villach, and the Technology Park management gathered behind the High Tech Campus. They listened to keynote speeches on biodiversity, research, and innovation, and gained insights into current developments at the site. As with previous editions, the morning concluded with a complimentary breakfast and extensive personal networking in a relaxed atmosphere.
SILICON ALPS CLUSTER: AN INNOVATION NETWORK OF EUROPEAN SIGNIFICANCE
Benjamin Rammel from the Silicon Alps Cluster opened the event. He provided insights into the history and development of the Austrian innovation network for electronics, microelectronics, and software-based systems, highlighting its role in positioning the technology region internationally.
The upcoming EBSCON (Electronic and Software Based Systems Conference) was also highlighted. On October 7, 2026, the conference will once again gather industry experts and companies in Graz. Registration for the event is already open.
A FOCUS ON BIODIVERSITY
Biodiversity was a key theme of this Business Breakfast. FH-Prof. Dr. Franz Hölzl from the interdisciplinary research center ICEB at the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences (FH Kärnten) shared insights into the site's diverse flora and fauna. He demonstrated how biodiversity contributes to sustainable site development. Concrete projects, such as a study on bird strikes at the Technology Park, illustrated the synergy between research, technology, and nature conservation. The goal is not to view nature as an opponent of development, but to create solutions that harmonize both.
LATEST NEWS FROM THE TECHNOLOGY PARK
To wrap up, Bernhard Lamprecht, Managing Director of the Technology Park Villach, shared updates on current developments and upcoming projects at the site.
Newly installed outdoor seating near the river stands—already put to good use during this fourth Business Breakfast—has enhanced the quality of the campus environment. Additionally, a food truck is planned to open later this year.
The appearance of the Technology Park has also evolved: the prominent chimney was removed for safety reasons, with decommissioning completed much faster than originally scheduled.
Looking ahead to upcoming construction projects, a temporary wooden building for Silicon Austria Labs (SAL) will be erected shortly, creating additional space for research and innovation within the park.
Mobility remains a core element of site development. In cooperation with the City of Villach, plans are underway to optimize public transport. A survey on this topic will be launched shortly.

25 YEARS OF THE TECHNOLOGY PARK VILLACH
Another outlook highlighted a milestone event: the 25th anniversary of the Technology Park Villach will be celebrated on October 15, 2026. As part of the anniversary events, the Technology Park Villach invites campus companies to participate in an Open House on October 16, 2026, to showcase their work, achievements, and innovations. Interested companies can get in touch via buerger@hightechcampus.at.
The outdoor Business Breakfast concluded a versatile fourth edition of the networking series. The next opportunity for breakfast and networking will take place on November 17, 2026, starting at 8:00 AM.
